ABOUT LEN TATEM, PRINCIPAL

 Len Tatem has been in the field of housing and investments for over 25 years.  His current focus  is with business and portfolio sustainability analysis, property and portfolio repositioning and maximizing performance through capital planning, green and sustainable design, rehabilitation and debt restructuring and innovative marketing. He is active coaching groups to prepare and execute Year 15 LIHTC (low income tax credit) exit strategies, evaluating financing structure and assessing and restructuring asset and property management lines of business.Len concentrates in creating organizational capacity through one-on-one mentoring as well as providing lectures, training and technical assistance on a variety of topics.

Len Tatem is the Managing Member and Principal of partnership..    Tatem Consulting’s business relationships include both large and small, active community development corporations and various sized non-profits interested in building, preserving and managing affordable housing and smart growth oriented properties. We concentrate in creating organizational capacity through one-on-one mentoring as well as providing lectures, training and technical assistance on a variety of topics. We conduct real estate reviews for organizations across the country,  Tatem Consulting’s business relationships include both large and small, active community development corporations and various sized non-profits interested in building, preserving and managing affordable housing and smart growth oriented properties.   Tatem Consulting is a member of the US Green Building Council (USCGC).

MORE ABOUT LEN TATEM

  Prior to being a consultant,Len was the Director of Finance/AVP for Harvard University’s Real Estate Corporation. This non-academic portfolio, valued at over $2 billion, included market rate, rent control and subsidized housing, hotels, warehouse and retail space and office buildings. Through his work at Harvard, he learned that hispassion was greatest for the affordable housing.  In this capacity he was responsible for the negotiation of more than $40 million worth of service contracts annually in support of both its non-profit and for profit management companies. In addition,he provided services the organization’s real estate development and construction management department by conducting marketing and feasibility studies as well as providing underwriting support.  This experience at Harvard along with his Bachelor of Science in Finance from URI and Master's Degree concentrating in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard University, set the stage for his consulting career.
